From Japan to Surry Hills
Saying Goodbye to Nana: Our Amazing Intern from Japan
It’s never easy saying goodbye, especially when you’ve had the pleasure of working alongside someone as eager to learn and as hard-working as Nana. Nana came to us all the way from Japan, and for the past month, she’s been an absolute joy to have on our team. Her goal? To improve her English, build her confidence, and learn the ins and outs of working in a café. Safe to say, she crushed it.
From Japan to Surry Hills: A Month of Growth
When Nana first joined us, she was a bit nervous about communicating in English. But after just a few weeks working with us, her confidence soared. She worked closely with both our front-of-house (FOH) and kitchen teams, and that collaboration really helped her grow. She was quick to pick up new phrases, engage with customers, and interact with the team. It was amazing to see someone so eager to learn, and she quickly became a core part of the crew.
Mastering the POS System Like a Pro
One of Nana’s big goals was to get comfortable using our POS system. And let’s just say she nailed it. From her very first shift to her last, she got faster and more confident with each order. By the end of her internship, she was handling the system like a seasoned pro—and that’s a skill that’s going to serve her well as she continues on her career path. Her ability to adapt quickly and her willingness to tackle any task we threw her way really stood out.
Eager to Learn, Ready to Grow
Nana didn’t just settle for the basics; she was always eager to learn something new. Whether it was about making the perfect cup of coffee, helping out in the kitchen, or learning more about customer service, Nana took every opportunity to grow. We were impressed by her drive and dedication, and she was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
It wasn’t just about getting the job done—Nana wanted to understand how everything worked and learn from the team. We’re sure this drive for learning will take her far, wherever her journey leads next.
Our Favourite Moments
Of course, Nana’s time with us wasn’t all about work. She also got to enjoy some of our café’s finest dishes. And if there was one thing we all knew about Nana, it was that her absolute favourite dish was our French Toast with a side of bacon. We’re not sure if it was the crispy bacon or the caramelized apples that made it so irresistible, but every time she ordered it, she lit up. It's safe to say Nana’s love for that dish will be one of the things we all remember about her time here.
We'll Miss You, Nana
As her internship comes to a close, we just want to say how much we’ll miss Nana’s energy and positivity around the café. She worked hard, she learned quickly, and she became a part of the Dad & The Frog family. We’re proud of the progress she made in just one month, and we have no doubt she’ll continue to achieve amazing things.
Nana, thank you for everything. We hope you take all the confidence and skills you’ve gained here with you and use them to achieve whatever comes next. And don’t forget us when you’re back in Japan—remember that we’ll always have your favourite French Toast waiting for you!
